HP Printing Options

1. Local Printers

These are printers that are physically attached to a computer and are located in the office with the person that uses the device. We do not support printer sharing so the person that is using the computer that this device is attached to is the only person that can print to it. Local printing should only be used in situations that require privacy since the printers tend to be more expensive to use than a larger networked printer.

2. Networked Printers/Copiers

These are devices that are connected to the network and have a print queue that is managed by our Systems team. This allows a department to grant and remove access to a device and multiple people can print to these devices. Most departments across campus have a primary networked printer and employees in your department are granted access to that device when they create their accounts.

The printer queues are named using your department code so you can find the devices in your area. Access to printers can be made by clicking on the appropriate queue name on the right hand side of the page.

3. Lab Printers

Lab printers are setup and managed by our Pharos system. Each of the lab computers are setup to print to these devices. Once you print a job in a lab you will need to go to the print station next to the printer and slide your card to release the job. Keep in mind that charges that you incur in a lab are charged to your department or student account.

How do I get a printer replaced or put a new one in?

Any department needing to replace equipment should start by contacting IT Purchasing.  You may be referred to one of our copier vendors if you are looking to replace an MFP.

Who do I call if I have problems or need toner?

Access/Printer Queue Problems – These generally start with the HelpDesk since those pieces are managed by Information Technology.  Call (817) 257-6855 to reach out to the IT Support HelpDesk.

Physical Problems (i.e. printer jam, hardware failure, getting error codes) – These generally go to the support vendor that deals with these devices.  If you are in a lab, please reach out to the department that is over the lab for assistance.

  • HP Printers – Call DI Laser – Look for their support number on the printer – Keep in mind that you have to buy toner from them in order to receive diagnostics without being charged.

Toner Needs – Contact the vendor for assistance.  If you are in a lab, please reach out to the department that is over the lab for assistance.

Warning: Maintenance Window

Our network printer maintenance window is on Sunday morning from Midnight until Noon. We may have to bring the system down during this time with little or no warning to the TCU community. Please, hold off on reporting major outages to the network printer system if it occurs during the maintenance window.
