Information Technology is a collaborative partner in the systems, services, and innovations that support learning, research, and connection. Our teams bring deep technical expertise and work closely with departments across campus to connect people, platforms, and data through secure, scalable systems. From classroom technology and enterprise applications to network infrastructure, cybersecurity, and research computing, IT provides excellent support for the diverse and evolving needs of the university.

IT Enterprise Application Services provides support, development, and oversight of administrative and strategic applications across campus.

Enterprise Resource Planning support (ERP)

EAS works closely with administrative departments throughout campus to ensure our ERP systems such as PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, PeopleSoft Human Resources, PeopleSoft Finance and Blackbaud eCRM meet the administrative needs of the University.

EAS also supports third-party systems that rely on the ERP systems of record.  These systems include CourseDog, Stellic, Maxient, Rave TCU Alert, D2L Brightspace, AEFIS, Tableau, StarRez Housing, Slate, PageUp, TimeClock Plus Frogtime, Concur, Jaggaer, Anaplan, TCU Mobile and many others.

Custom Development Support

EAS performs custom development for a variety of strategic and specialized applications.  Examples include Epayments, Account Provisioning, SuperFrog appearances, and other .NET solutions.  Microsoft .NET running on Windows IIS is our preferred custom programming framework.

SaaS and Solution Consulting

EAS will provide consulting and evaluation services for consumer off-the-shelf (COTS) products and for addressing existing problems that require software solutions. EAS also provides development guidelines for external developers who wish to have their applications hosted on TCU hardware.

Construction

The IT Construction team is responsible for representing Information Technology by overseeing the physical implementation of technology infrastructure in the university's construction process.

Infrastructure

The IT Infrastructure team is responsible for all aspects of the university’s technology infrastructure including voice, video, and data cabling and outside plant system and supporting infrastructure including MDFs/IDF communication rooms, and two data centers.

IT Network Services is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and supporting TCU’s network infrastructure to ensure reliable and secure connectivity for users, systems, and applications.  

IT Network Services group is essential for maintaining TCU’s digital backbone that connects all systems.

Network Infrastructure Management

  • Design, deployment, and maintenance of:

    • Local Area Networks (LAN)
    • Wide Area Networks (WAN)
    • Wireless networks (Wi-Fi)
    • Virtual Private Networks (VPN)
  • Managing routers, switches, firewalls, access points, load balancers, and other network hardware.

Network Security

  • Operational responsibility for firewalls and network access controls.
  • Enforcement of security policies and protocols set by IT Security Services group (e.g., encryption, segmentation, least privilege).

Connectivity & Access

  • Ensure consistent and high-speed connectivity across all locations (offices, data centers, remote sites).
  • Manage remote access tools and VPNs for remote workers.
  • Support connectivity to cloud services and external networks.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

  • Continuously monitor network performance, uptime, and usage.
  • Respond to outages, latency issues, or bottlenecks.
  • Diagnose and resolving connectivity or configuration issues.

Network Services & Systems Integration

  • DNS (Domain Name System)
  • DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)
  • IP Address Management (IPAM)
  • Integration with other IT systems such as identity management, cloud services, and VoIP.

Cloud & Hybrid Networking

  • Manage networking aspects of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Support hybrid environments where on-premise systems interact with cloud-based systems.

Planning & Upgrades

  • Plan for capacity, scalability, and future needs.
  • Upgrade outdated hardware, software, and protocols.
  • Implement new network technologies.

Purchasing

We guide technology standards & purchasing at TCU. On a daily basis, we issue purchase orders, monitor fulfillment, and ensure delivery accuracy. In cooperation with other IT departments, we periodically review & update technology standards in order to meet new campus requirements.

The IT Security Services team protects TCU's data and the systems over which the data traverses, including systems hosted on premises and in the cloud.

Protecting the University Community

  • Safeguard students, faculty, and staff from phishing, malware, and identity theft.
  • Provide awareness training to foster a security-minded culture.
  • Run monitoring systems to detect suspicious activity across campus systems.

Defending Institutional Data

  • Ensure compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, GLBA, and GDPR for sensitive academic, health, and financial data.
  • Govern vendor contracts and third-party integrations with thorough security reviews.

Enabling Secure Teaching, Learning, and Research

  • Protect high-performance research systems with advanced endpoint and network defenses.
  • Provide secure access to cloud platforms, LMS systems, and collaboration tools.
  • Support faculty and researchers with secure storage and data-sharing options.

Maintaining Trustworthy Infrastructure

  • Operate firewalls, intrusion detection, and incident response processes to protect critical systems.
  • Oversee identity and access management (MFA, SSO, least privilege).
  • Ensure continuity through disaster recovery and backup testing.

Responding and Resiliency

  • Staff a Security Operations Center (SOC) to monitor, detect, and respond to cyber incidents.
  • Provide rapid breach notification and coordinate remediation with campus IT units.
  • Conduct regular technical testing, vulnerability scans, and assessments to improve cybersecurity.

Partnership & Collaboration

  • Serve as a trusted partner to academic departments, administrative units, and leadership.
  • Represent the university in higher-ed cybersecurity consortia (REN-ISAC, EDUCAUSE, etc.).
  • Build a shared responsibility model where cybersecurity supports the academic mission.
IT Support combines technical expertise with customer service to ensure the TCU community can work, teach, and learn with confidence.
