Microsoft 365 for TCU
1. Micorosft 365 Features/Eligibility
Student Access
Microsoft 365 is now available to all current TCU students and provides them with email, cloud file storage, collaboration services, Office Online, and free downloads of the latest version of Microsoft Office. Using Office 365, along with OneDrive, gives students access to everything they need with a consistent experience across devices.
Faculty/Staff Access
In 2023, we transitioned all Faculty/Staff mailboxes over from an On-Premise Exchange environment to the Microsoft 365 platform. You will have access to email, online cloud storage, online collaboration services, and Office Online (web only).
Note: Access to download Microsoft Office on personal devices must be requested through the HelpDesk along with a business case for the need. You should always be using the TCU supplied version of Office on your TCU-owned computer(s).
Retiree Access
In 2023, we transitioned all retiree mailboxes over from an On-Premise Exchange environment to the Microsoft 365 platform. You will have access to email only and all other services will be restricted.
Note: Emeritus retirees can make requests to the IT Support HelpDesk to access additional pieces of the Microsoft 365 product if a business need is determined.
Alumni Access
- Alumni that graduated after January 2013 will have TCU Microsoft 365 for email only.
- Alumni are considered students that completed a degree with the university.
- Students who leave the university and do no complete a degree will lose access to their email 12 months after their last semester at TCU.
- Students (who graduate after January 2013) get to keep the TCU email account for the life of the service.
- Alumni that graduated before January of 2013 will not have access to their TCU email account once they were no longer listed as an active student. These students did not have email accounts when we moved to Microsoft 365 (as they were removed shortly after graduation) so they were not transitioned over to our new email system and do not have accounts.
Incoming students who never attended the university will lose access to their @tcu.edu email address a few months after the beginning of their intended semester.
