Okta is TCU's multifactor authentication system that helps protect access to TCU resources and tools by confirming your identity through another device.
Learn about Okta
What is Okta?
In order to prevent someone else from using your account without your knowledge and accessing your personal data, we use Okta Multifactor Authentication (MFA). Okta is an extra layer of security because it requires a you to confirm your identity through another device.
For example, if someone had access to your username and password and was trying to login as you, because you have Okta set up, you would get a notification on your device (such as a phone) asking if it was you logging in. If it isn't, you can reject their attempt, change your password, and contact the IT Help Desk to let them know. You are probably familiar with these from banking or health care apps.
What are the factor options?
In order to add your additional layer of security, you can choose one or more of these factors.
- You can use the Okta Verify App on your mobile device to receive a PUSH notification that will allow you to approve the verification request.
- You can use the Okta Verify app on your mobile device to get a CODE (it will refresh every 30 seconds) that you can enter to complete the verification
process.
- NOTE: This does not work for the VPN Client but will for other protected services.
